There’s some tricky route-finding and exposed scrambling, and water sources are sporadic—this high-level adventure is better for experienced and fit backpackers, ideally with a previous GC or other Southwest backpacking trips under their belts. And as a true bucket list item, it is one you will want to check off your list sooner than later. As you enter the canyon, look for the ruins of the original Whitewater Mill and follow in the footsteps of the workers who built a water pipeline to provide water to the mill in 1893.
